Hosea chapters 1 and 2 is a depiction of the Old and New Testament Churches’ history by one allegorical family. In this family, Hosea represents God, his wife Gomer represents the church, and their children represent church converts. In chapter one the children’s birth depicts special events in the history of the Old Testament church. In chapter two the children plead with their estranged mother to return to God. Thus, the booklet is entitled, “The Latest News for Mother.”
